Marking 25
years of leadership in energy transportation, OQ Gas Networks SAOG (OQGN), the
exclusive transporter and operator of the Sultanate of Oman’s natural gas
transmission network, celebrated its silver jubilee. The occasion was marked
with a special ceremony under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al
Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and attended by a number of
Excellencies, the honored members of the State Council, representatives
from the Oman Investment Authority, along with senior officials from military
and government entities, OQGN’s Board of Directors, as well as chief
executives, partners, and employees.
Since its establishment in 2000, OQGN has played a dynamic role in
strengthening energy availability, economic development, and industrial growth
by managing and transporting natural gas with efficiency and high reliability.
Under the slogan “25 Years of Energizing the Nation” the celebration reflects a
journey of achievements across the energy value chain and gas transmission
infrastructure, while highlighting its ambitious future vision aligned with
Oman Vision 2040 and the Oman Net Zero 2050 strategy through sustainable
practices, digital transformation, and energy transition.
On this occasion, Ashraf Al Mamari, OQ Group CEO, said: “OQGN is a
key asset within the OQ Group and the lifeline of Sultanate of Oman economy,
playing a central role in transporting energy from production sites to
consumption points, thereby enabling sustainable economic growth across
industrial, logistics, oil & gas, and petrochemical sectors in the
Sultanate.”

success story, woven over a quarter of a century of continuous work and
innovation. Over the years, OQGN has demonstrated its ability to overcome
challenges and manage the gas transmission network from the far north to the
far south of the Sultanate, achieving high performance indicators with gas
availability rates reaching 99.9% through efficient and reliable operations.”

is an inspiring 25-year story that began with a single pipeline and has grown
into a dynamic network spanning 4,235 KM, including 3 compressor stations and
26 gas supply stations, connecting the Sultanate of Oman governorates. As a
listed company on the Muscat Stock Exchange, OQGN reinforces principles of
competitiveness, transparency, and governance. The success of this journey is
attributed to teamwork, determination, and the commitment of our employees and
partners, supported through a strong corporate culture and safety, health,

The silver jubilee also provided an opportunity to honor the
skills, expertise, and dedication of employees who have been at the heart of
OQGN’s success since its inception in 2000. Today, the company proudly employs about
470 staff members, with more than 94% of Omanization rate.
At its silver jubilee, OQGN reaffirms the efficiency of its
operations and reliability of its network, having transported about 43 billion
cubic meters of natural gas. The company’s total assets reached 1.1 billion OMR,
while dividends distributed in 2024 rose to more than 46 million OMR. OQGN
advanced its sustainability agenda, reducing emissions by 45% compared to 2021
and worked on15 social contribution programmes. These results reflect the
company’s commitment to combining operational excellence with sustainable
value, while reinforcing Oman’s position as a regional energy hub and an active
partner in the transition towards a low-carbon future.`
