OQ Gas
Networks (OQGN), the exclusive transporter and operator of the Sultanate of
Oman’s natural gas transmission network, celebrated its Open Learning Day 2026
under the theme “We Grow Through Innovation”, reaffirming its position as a
forward-looking organization that places learning, innovation, and people
development at the core of its strategy and long-term growth journey.
The event brought together employees and leaders across the
organization in a unified platform designed to strengthen a culture of
continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and leadership development. It also
highlighted OQGN’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce capable of
adapting to the evolving demands of the energy sector, while contributing to
the broader national development goals of the Sultanate of Oman.
Open Learning Day 2026 reflected OQGN’s belief that learning is not
a standalone activity, but a way of working embedded in daily operations,
leadership behaviour, and organizational mindset. Within this context,
innovation is seen not only as technological advancement, but also as a
human-driven capability that thrives through curiosity, collaboration, and
continuous improvement.
As part of its ongoing investment in human capital, OQGN continues
to achieve measurable impact in capability development and leadership
readiness. The company has successfully developed 75 employees through its NAHJ
leadership programme, which is designed to build and strengthen leadership
capabilities across multiple levels. In addition, OQGN recorded more than
20,000 training hours annually, supported by structured learning pathways and
development initiatives such as Irtiqaa and Ithraa. These efforts are further
complemented by over 4,100 completed learning courses and sessions, including
digital learning through platforms such as LinkedIn Learning, alongside focused
programmes that enhance communication, teamwork, safety culture, and
operational excellence.
Commenting on the occasion, Faisal Al Maamari, Chief People,
Technology & Culture Officer at OQGN, said: “Open Learning Day reflects the
essence of who we are as an organization. At OQGN, learning is not an
initiative or an event; it is a mindset and a way of working that shapes how we
think, how we lead, and how we deliver value. We are intentionally investing in
our people, strengthening leadership capability, and enabling a culture where
innovation is embedded in everyday decisions. This is what allows us to build a
resilient, agile, and future-ready organization that can respond effectively to
change while creating long-term value for Oman’s energy ecosystem.”
He added that developing national talent remains a strategic
priority for OQGN, emphasizing that leadership readiness, digital capability,
and continuous learning are critical enablers of organizational transformation
and sustained competitiveness in a rapidly evolving industry.
OQGN extended its sincere appreciation to the organizing team and
all employees who contributed to the success of Open Learning Day 2026. The
company highlighted that the event’s impact was driven by collective effort,
collaboration, and a shared commitment to learning and excellence, which remain
central to its organizational culture.
Through
initiatives such as Open Learning Day, OQGN continues to reinforce its
transformation journey by strengthening leadership pipelines, enhancing digital
and technical capabilities, embedding a culture of continuous improvement, and
supporting Oman’s broader economic development agenda. The company remains
committed to empowering people, enabling innovation, and further strengthening
its role as a key enabler of the Sultanate of Oman’s critical energy
infrastructure and sustainable growth.
