Muscat, Oman –– OQ Gas Networks SAOG (OQGN), the exclusive operator of Oman`s Natural Gas Transmission Network, Huawei, and Hussam Technology Company LLC (HTC) proudly announce the completion of Phase I of implementation of a high-performance data transmission network backhaul solution based on DWDM telecommunication technology, connecting the Muscat Region pipeline network to Fahud Gas Supply Station (GSS). Building on this achievement, the three parties are excited to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to extend their partnership further. This MoU aims to advance Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiatives within OQGN and across Oman, in alignment with Oman Vision 2040. This strategic collaboration highlights the shared commitment of the three parties to foster technological innovation and talent development in Oman.

The MoU establishes a collaborative framework that focuses on digital transformation, consultancy and joint innovation, ICT talent development, and extending the DWDM network to Duqm and Sur by mid-2026. By leveraging advanced ICT technologies, the partnership aims to enhance OQGN`s operational efficiency and digitalization efforts, including the development of smart campuses, digital pipelines, and smart oil fields. It encompasses expert consultancy services and pioneering ICT innovations, such as network optimization, cloud strategy development, and digital transformation consultancy. The MoU also prioritizes developing local ICT talent through programs like Huawei ICT Training & Certification. Key plans for 2024 include finalizing the engineering for DWDM extension to Salalah, which will cover nearly 60% of the pipeline network, optimizing the telecom network, and developing a cloud capabilities roadmap. Completing Phases II and III of the DWDM extension to Salalah will achieve a 100 Gbps bandwidth, with potential expansion to 200 Gbps, thereby enhancing network scale, coverage, and data security through encrypted transport. This backbone network will support future digital initiatives, improving resilience and capability.

Mansoor Al Abdali, CEO of OQGN, stated, "OQGN has collaborated with Huawei and HTC for the past year and a half. The DWDM solution has significantly improved our network performance. We are excited to continue this collaboration to bring cutting-edge ICT solutions to the company and Oman, supporting our mission to drive digital transformation and operational excellence. This partnership will enable us to enhance our network`s scalability, security, and efficiency, which are vital for our operations and future growth.
