OQGN Signs a proof-of-concept agreement with Omantel on the satellite technology for gas networks

Muscat –OQ Gas Networks SAOG (OQGN), the exclusive operator of Oman`s Natural Gas Transmission Network, signed an agreement with Omantel to leverage on the satellite technology and artificial intelligence to monitor the gas pipelines.

With this agreement, OQGN would be the first energy company using satellite technology to monitor its operation network across the 4030 KM pipeline from the North to the South of the Sultanate.

Held at COMEX Global Technology Show and was attended by officials from OQGN and Omantel, the agreement was signed by Eng. Mansoor bin Ali Al Abdali, OQGN CEO and Talal bin Said Al Mamari, Omantel CEO, on behalf of their respective organizations.

Mansoor Al Abdali, OQGN CEO, said: “We are very excited to collaborate with Omantel in jointly developing the satellite technology project. With this agreement, we are signaling our commitment as the national gas infrastructure company in leading safe operation across Oman. Together with Omantel, we will leverage on our considerable combined expertise to reaffirm our commitment and dedication to driving a positive change and creating value for Oman and its people in line with Oman vision 2040.”

It is worth mentioning that this collaboration marks a significant step forward in improving the efficiency of Oman`s natural gas transmission network. By using satellite technology`s, OQGN aims to ensure the integrity of our operations while also contributing to the overall safety and sustainability of the country`s energy infrastructure.
